First I will say I plan on buying this book for my kids and employees and close friends as gifts. Porter is a great storyteller but it’s about real life lessons and ties it back to quotes from motivational speakers and verses from the Bible as well. I was blown away at the way the story tied everything to a real compelling couple and their day to day challenges and how little life choices could have made a huge impact in the outcome of their quality of life, sometimes $5 at a time! I look forward to future books and in the meantime will be gifting this to many people! -Monique

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just another self help book The ability of an author to "reach" his readers is a gift that Mr. Porter has mastered. I found it amazing how relatable this book is to the current stage of my life. I am sure that this is one of the few books I will re-read a few times. Its like watching the classic Willy Wonka movie......you will always see (or in this case read) something you missed the first time around and enjoy it all over again.

Joan P. After months of the covid outbreak I found myself stuck and rather depressed. This book has helped me begin to hope in, and plan for, a more positive future. The author has managed to interweave important truths into a story format which makes for a very interesting read. It's not your ordinary self help book. This book offers practical "where the rubber hits the road" concepts and applications that make sense. The author shows a great deal of wisdom concerning the human condition. Do yourself a favor, get this book and get unstuck!

Mikey G 5.0 out of 5 stars This is a door you will be glad you walked This is a story woven with wisdom more than it is a self help book. Which makes it all the more enjoyable to read. I think most people will find it relatable and timeless. Porter lays out the keys to success - whatever that means to you - as plainly and truthfully as anything I’ve read. And (spoiler alert!) it’s not as difficult as you may think it is.

If we’re born to the right family, sometimes we’re fortunate enough to have parents who play that role. Sometimes if we are hired to the right company, our bosses may play that role. But not everybody is that lucky. This book serves as a guide for the person who is ready to take action to change their lives, and make something of themselves. The road forward is rarely paved in magic. But this book teaches us that success and happiness can be found one step at a time.

Sheila Meyer 5.0 out of 5 stars Inspirational ideas to get what you want &  AMAZING book!! ❤️ A month ago my wonderful friend, Michael Porter sent me a copy of a book he wrote: OPEN THE DOOR TO THE TRUTH between the crazy busy-ness of work, home & the holidays I didn’t get a chance to read it continuously- (and it really isn’t that big of a book!) I made myself start it again, and this time all the way through, beginning to end (an easy 2 day read for me) Wow- what an amazing book for everyone to read as it changes your outlook on thinking positive, setting goals and getting what you want out of life. I love his characters (Jack & Diane- brilliant considering Mike & I are kids of the 80’s & actually met in 6th grade) The use of Affirmations, Journaling, Visual Boards & the techniques of “growing a garden in life” was not only inspiring, but things I’m going to start doing immediately! Life changing goals & events can be achieved with simple, and even FUN baby steps. I love how Mike shares quotes throughout the book. They are quotes that completely make sense and if one reads & BELIEVES, than dreams do & will come true. I also love the idea for stopping negative thoughts- with the arms wide open and the 3 claps. It works! I’m so glad I read this book and I’m going to encourage all my children to read it. In fact, one is getting it today! I think the tools shared in this book can make life more successful, easier and it’s never too late to do these simple things! I’ve made my affirmations- I’m going to be asking/looking for magazines so create my visual board and I’m looking forward to finding some books of inspiration, self love & more to enlighten my mind, heart & soul. Mike Porter you’ve done this in a wonderful way through this amazing book. My apologies for not reading it earlier… and now that I have, I wish you had written years ago- but again, I will bring taking “Jack & Diane”, the Boss, the Farmer & Kevin with me in my future. I’m blessed, grateful & thankful to have you in my life my friend! Hugs!! This book is my greatest reminder of the things that i knew long time ago, like when i was still in college, but did not work on it. I knew that i have to know what i want to achieve in a specific period of my life. I knew that i have to write it down - picture it, make a vision board. I knew that i have to work on what i want. And eventually i each dream will be fulfilled. I know that this is effective - i did this strategy for small things. And it works. Now, i am introducing this process slowly to my toddler. And she seems to understand. Like i told her to keep on thinking what she wants to happen like being the line leader in school, and she’d come home telling me that it’s effective! i will buy my own to gift it to an officemate who needs motivation.
